It's not a broad or a narrow issue....
It's my opinion that it's an immersion vs a portrayal..
Home Theatre is a different type of experience with different goals. Movie sound and being immersed inside a movie is much different than a music recording.
Even in what many regard as a "good" surround audio recording, - for example, - the goal is to have the sound coming out of the rear speakers be very quiet, - ambient reflections, - or that lady coughing behind you.
If you go out and get the Bourne Identity, - you're supposed to hear the car exploding behind you really loudly.
