Not playing semantics. You brush with a broad brush relative to video, and a narrow brush relative to audio. Brush with the same brush. If you are applying a generality to audiophiles on this site, also apply the same generality to the videophiles on this site. Painting with the same narrow brush, I dare say that most of the videophiles on this site, who are most certainly audiophiles as well, are more interested in how their video systems, which, by and large, are the same as their audio systems, reproduce dialog and music as explosions.

If you believe that most home theaters from the population at large are only interested in explosions, apply the same brush to the population at large, and they are not interested in fidelity.

The "purpose" of the system depends on the user. If you define the purpose of an audio system by those on this site, it is only fair to define the purpose of a home theater by those on this site.
