......but IME, to experience a totally engulfing movie experience, one has give as much attention to tuning a HT system as one gives to tuning a dedicated 2-channel system.
If one listens to music over their HT system, whether it be 2-channel or multi-channel, and the musical message/drive is lost, then that system characteristic will carry over to movies and the intended drama will be lost in the movies as well.
I have heard too many HT systems that are nothing more than "noise machines" where the owners sole desire is to see how loud/deep the footsteps of the T-Rex can be reproduced in Jurassic Park for example or the distracting rear channel effects that don't really blend with the movie and are just used to "WOW" the listener.
When one does not address HT system tuning with the same attention to detail that is given to 2 channel system, the emotional rollercoaster of the movie is completely missing which negates the whole purpose of watching a movie in the first place IMHO.
I use only 2 high quality channels and a subbass system in my HT but this I can say, every movie is a thrillride :-)
