I keep a stereo in a seperate room from the homely theatre room. I like electrostats for stereo listening and having a 10 foot screen was way to reflective to have on the wall behind them for one. Also, most home theatre receivers, processors etc convert every thing to digital and back even in 2 channel mode. I am still using an "antique" Citation 7 for my processor and I still think its among the better sounding units available. In order to do 7.1 properly and with all ESL speakers I would have had to budget way more than I can afford to make it sound the way I would be happy with (not to mention needing a bigger room). So I currently use homebrew subs and MTM speakers and am very happy with the sound when watching movies. In fact for that use I see no reason to upgrade the audio. 2 channel sound very good also but no match for the ESL set up in another room. Also I have the home theatre room painted in dark non reflective colors and keep it pretty much pitch dark in there like a real theatre. Even with lights on its like a cave and I like a lighter environment for serious music listening. So for me they will stay 2 seperate entities...
