classic vs thread vs follow up urls

Don't recall this happening before, and I generally do use threads view, but. The url listings for the posts are now different between the two views on the front page, but the url of the Follow Ups are also different from within the post than they are on the front page. So if I open a post and then read the Follow Ups from within that post, the titles of those Follow Up posts won't show as visited on the front page since they are different urls from the ones I read. And vice versa.
