Hi Shane -- I really bought the Super Compacts because I wanted to build a good system in a room where my only option for equipment placement was a built-in shelf area that is only 14" deep. With high-quality cables, this restricted me to components that are 11" maximum in depth. The SC's fit that criteria. I also don't know of many tube (or ss) amps at $2000 that have 150 watts (my speakers are only 87 sensitivity).
These monoblocs run warm but definitely not hot -- not like my Plinius SA-100 mkIII, or my Joule Electra VZN-80 OTL space-heater-disguised-as-an-amp. As far as the two-week audition -- I powered the SC's up and left them on for the first few days, and they already sound so good that I'm definitely keeping them. You can see that I own some other highly-regarded amps, and each has its own merits. I could be quite happy if all I owned was the Super Compacts -- they are exceptional in my opinion.
Regards, Mike
