Consumer Reports did a study of shipping companies a number of years ago. The inserted a shock sensor in the packages that would trigger if the package received over a certain impact force level. What was interesting was that some packages had the sensor triggered, yet the box showed no damage. So, a box can look fine, yet the contents received an impact. If the box lands squarely on one side, the box may not be damaged, yet the contents can be. Unfortunately, this situation is not considered by the shippers.
