If you order (and just for the sake of argument let's say), a Sony CD player, which you saw advertised in Stereophile, and that player breaks down, and Sony refuses to honor the warranty for whatever reason, would you, upon notificiation to Stereophile the circumstances of this defective product and Sony' lack of customer service, expect Stereophile to decline Sony's advertising from that point on?

It ain't going happen, and neither should it.
Advertising is just that, advertising.
It is not an endorsement.
If someone is naive enough to think one equals the other, that is their problem, and not the publication, or in our case, a website forum.My two cents worth anyway.
