Yes, it was good to see one of my all time favorites. I too noted how intricately he wove his newer "less is more" style with the vocalist. He was the obvious talent onstage, not Clarkson.
I was expecting more from another favorite, Annie Lennox. Maybe it was partially the venue and sound, but she seems to have lost a lot of her impressive range and beautiful pitch. Not a great song for her talents, anyway... Maybe I was distracted by all the focus on cleavage while she played the piano....
