I believe when I was a kid back in the 60's and 70's, the shows would start their run of 22-24 weeks of new shows, and would basically run them through, with the sometimes exception of the holidays. (Holiday programing would occasionally interrupt a show for a week or two). However, usually some time in February or March the reruns would start. (This was a better method for us, the viewer, as it meant that once we had seen the entire season, we could then switch over to another network to see what was on there. Obviously, the networks figured that out, and switched it up so that you almost never know when a new episode will be shown, so you are constantly either watching intermittent reruns, or you're channel hopping to avoid said reruns, or, like me, I just record the shows on our DVR and either watch the new episode, or delete it if it is a rerun. The thing I hate, is that the networks are constantly shifting the times around, so I miss some of the episodes of the few shows I watch. Because of this annoying new habit of theirs, I have become less and less interested in shows, and so now, I only watch a very few shows. (Of course maybe the reason I watch so few shows is the lack of quality of the shows.)
PS Reality TV shows SUCK!
PPS No, I mean Reality TV REALLY, REALLY SUCKS!
