I use this site to help me make a purchase for a specific piece because (1) there are so many choices for a single piece; (2) I don't know what the great recordings are of that piece; and (3) I don't know what the great performances are of that piece. I understand you can probably argue each of these 101 picks but it sure prevents a "classical illiterate" like me from spending gobs of money on poor performances/recordings!
