"If this is not a personal problem, where is the universal appeal?"The appeal is not universal, it's restricted to those fortunate enough to have and take advantage of the opportunity to attend live concerts of classical music in the world's best concert halls. Reproducing that sound is the only justification I can think of for the Mount Everest of time, money, and technical effort which has gone into this industry over the past 75 years and so far, it has come up completely short. It has not produced a clone, it has not produced even a good facsimile.
