Me a Gatekeeper?You could look at the complexity of audio A/D and D/A chips and the size of the firmware (tiny) (about the only digital manipulation happening in a pure audio chain) vs. the complexity of a typical cameras battery of chips and their firmware (comparatively much larger) and that should give you an good idea of how much more signal manipulation is taking place.
