Yeah...I think that when you have something that is either off or on, plus or minus, - you have a square. The square becomes "blur-like," or more "refined" whenever you increase sampling rate; (samples taken per second), and sampling precision, - (controls gradations (quantization levels), are possible when taking the sample), - we can still hear the square, crisp sound. And, if there is no noise, (either on or off), that affects/makes it sound more crisp...
