I just got back ( live about 100 miles away ) from spending most of the day at the show. I was pleasantly suprised to see a number of younger visitors ( 30 somethings ) -I guess the weekend allows for a different crowd than a weekday.
I agree that many of the rooms were very small, especially those on the top floors rather than the sectioned off large meeting rooms. Fewer exhibitors and limited number of products-Rogue, for example, only had their entry level new pre and amp.
The large VTL monos and large Avalon speakers in a very good sized room were excellent-one of those circumstances where very expensive and excellent sound seem to match.A great local dealer ( owner ) of Coup de Foudre Audio.
Two rooms that always impress me-both because of their reasonable price and very good sound are the Odyssey setups and the Copland and Reference 3A room.
Also saw the complete APC power conditioner line- they look even better than in pictures and if they work as well as has been reported they are an excellent value ( perhaps even a steal if you don't need the battery backup option- coming soon in black).
I spent alot of time looking at new CD purchases etc. Although I don't have a HT, some of the concert DVD's were amazing, although I would only use 2 speakers.
McIntosh has some nice stuff but those massive speakers and amps seem to cry overkill unless you live in a mansion. And those big drum DVD's-impressive ( for a SHORT period of time) but is this music?
All on all a fun day.
