The Red Wine Audio Clari-T was nice, as was the Samson Servo 120a, but nothing beats tubes, especially at the budget end of the range.... Don Allen's "Cakepan" SET amp goes for $500, uses a 6BQ7 driver and 6BQ5 output tube. Has a volume control so I can plug the Fubar USB DAC (another killer budget product) directly into the input. Driving the Omega Minis. Four watts of bliss!! The 12" x 9" footprint is perfect! Before, I was listening to a nice travel system. But now, I'm listening to the music... When the music hits you right, it reduces the tension of the day.... The "Zen" effect, if you will.
I heard this little wonder drive some large horn speakers at Don's house. This thing will get time on the HE system.
