Re: Diagonal placement works extremely well also

I took the time to re-direct my Meadowlark Osprey's today, with interesting effects. I pointed the speakers outward to reflective walls, and was surprised at the imaging / focus / wide soundstage attained. Although I did not spend too much time with different configurations, I tried a few different locations and angles and here's what I found. The low frequencies most definately rolled off at a higher frequency, using my trusty ol' Radio Shaq spl meter the lows went from 35-38 Hz before signifigant roll off to about 66Hz. The highs did not measure much difference at all, but sound was a tiny bit brighter, nothing to worry about. Without a doubt, my partitular system sounds better with conventional speaker placement than pointed toward the walls (to my ears). This is in a 26 x 22 room. I then went to my secondary system in a 12 x 15 room and the effects were excellent. I got focus and imaging I was not able to attain previously in the small room. I will continue to play around with it. I guess all the scientific data in the world is only relative if it sounds good to your own ears. But it is fun to play around with configurations that go agaist conventional wisdom. Thanks so much for the suggestion.
