Skin effect happens at 60 hz...and below.

I recall back in '74, reading about how the power companies, when transferring large currents, do not use a solid conductor that is over 4 inches in diameter. If they have to go larger, they start using tubular conductors.

As I recall, they pegged the useable thickness as a result of skin effect to be 2 inches.

Skin effect for speaker wires does happen..even below a Mhz..it is visible in the inductive measurement drop as frequency increases...with good measurement equip, it is possible to actually see the 15 nH per foot drop that results from skinning..

As you lower the temperature of copper, it will really start to skin at audio frequencies because of it's conductivity increase. It's three orders of magnitude increase by the time it reaches 4.5 Kelvin.

As to audibility of that 15 nH per foot change in speaker runs??? Don't ask me..
