JPS Labs/Eupen power cable controversy

Recently on Cable Asylum, rpl reported that when he removed the heatshrink and pulled back the woven sleeving covering on his $395 power cord from JPS Labs, it revealed a power cable manufactured by Eupen, and bore a standard Eupen part number.

This was confirmed by a second party who owned the same power cord.

Rpl also EMailed Eupen and received a price quote for that part number which was considerably less than the $395 JPS Labs was asking for their cable.

Rpl's posts were subsequently deleted. The reason given was:

I point you to rule G. In my opinion, rpl has not provided enough evidence that the JPS power cord is a fully stock item from Eupen.

JPS has stated that they do not use a fully stock cable from Eupen, and that their costs are much higher than what rpl has stated as being the case.

JPS requested that the original rpl post be deleted, and I decided to do so on the basis of rule G.

Any other posts which state as fact that "XX cable costs only so much" without substantial evidence to back-up such a statement, will also be deleted if appropriate under the rules.

It seems to me that the party that has not provided enough evidence is JPS Labs.

Rpl provided subtantial evidence that the power cord is made by Eupen, that it bears as standard Eupen part number, and that its price is considerably less than what JPS Labs is asking for their cable.

Yet based on no evidence from JPS Labs, only empty claims that it is not a stock cord (well sure, the stock cord doesn't come with any heatshrink and sleeving) and that their costs are much higher than the stock cord from Eupen, rpl's posts were deleted.

Rpl accurately reported his findings which were substantiated by others and I see no reason why his findings should have been deleted. If JPS Labs wishes to address his findings, they're free to post a response and detail the value they claim to add to the Eupen cable.
