Current setup:
Nad 541 CDP
Nad c740 receiver
Dayton BR-1 Speakers (DIY)
Phone cable speaker wire (DIY)
Fine silver interconnects (DIY)I would absolutely love to be able to use my computer as a transport if I could maintain sound quality... would this work?:
Use an M-audio revolution (or the audiophile USB) with digital out to a budget used dac (~$250) and play music off my hard drive? In my mind it would seem that it should actually be better because there would be no spinning CD (better transport) and a dedicated DAC (so that would be better too)...
Any ideas of why that wouldn't be a good idea?BTW: I would use EAC to rip CD's to my hard drive in a lossless format... that should be at least comparable to any reasonably priced transport, correct?
