So what is a ton of money?

I also agree to a large degree with Don's comments, recognozing the deminishing returns aspect of all audio equipemnt.

So what is your dollar cut-off.

I'd also be interested in Don's figure, as I can't say I've read that. As a start, I've decided for myself it is approximately $US 2500. This is self serving as that's basically what I bought my modded Shanling for. It also happens that the Shanling was the second least expensive CDP I auditioned ( the cheapst being the Creek CD53, the most expensive being the Cary 306/200).

And yes, I did feel there were differences in all players I auditioned, factual or imagined, not withstanding.
