PayPal'ers Beware

I had PayPal withdraw $1500 from my bank account to pay for a product. They withdrew the money, deposited it in the Merchant's account and then several hours later withdrew the money claiming there had been quote "A Security Violation".

This was well over a month ago, and to-date, I have not been able to get my money back or for that matter, find out what the security violation was.

Since then, they have had me jumping through hoops, faxing them driver's licenses, utility bills, proof that the money was actually debited from my bank account and so on. They only want to correspond by email and each correspondance takes anywhere from 3-5 days for a response! For the most part, they have been completely unresponsive.

After digging like a miner for half an hour I finally found a customer service telephone number on their website. Calling this number was even less helpful. They didn't want to do ANYTHING via the telephone. I told them to cancel the transaction and deposit the money back into my account, "Oh we can't do that Mr. Welborne until you fax us all of the documents we asked for", said PayPal. I said, "you didn't need all of these documents to withdraw the money from my account, so you don't need them to put the money back into my account". She then hung up on me.

I called back and spoke to another representative...same response, so this time I asked to speak with their supervisor, "oh there is nobody else here for you to talk to" said PayPal...click. They hung up again.

So I called back again and asked for the telephone number of their legal representation so that my attorney could speak to their attorney...click, they hung up again.

PayPal'ers Beware. The last company that gave me THIS kind of runaround filed for Chapter 11 and I never saw a cent of the money they owed me.

I suspect it will be awhile before I get my money back and unfortunately my attorney will want his cut if he is successful. I personally will NEVER EVER use their services again and suggest to you, that if you must use PayPal that you only pay via a credit card. At least this way if PayPal tries to steal your money, you can let your bank duke it out with them at know cost to you.
