My choice was kind of made for me. I have to put everything inside a closed cabinet with VERY limited ventilation, so the heat of tubes prohibits a tubed amp. The next best thing is a tubed preamp.Actually, the McCormack is a damn fine solid state amp, so I really don't have many of the problems that some SS amp haters quote.
