While in the form of a question, it implies that Red Rose made no other physical modifications except "slapping on a $2000 price hike". The only way that your sentence could be factually true is if you, or someone else, has made a direct comparison of both amplifier's physical components, both external and internal. Were you referring to a published review comparing the units?
Although, your following sentence was clearly ironic in nature:
Oh, sorry, I forgot, they're not the same: one is an inexpensive piece from China and the other is a inexpensive piece from China with a Designer label. :-).
So, to me, it seems your post was a mixture of both accusation and irony, maybe that was the reason people misinterpeted it.
