Aren't the diaphragms in microphones also affected by this so-called "Doppler distortion", with the high frequencies modulated by the low frequencies? If so, it seems that an ideal speaker should be designed to operate like a microphone diaphragm in reverse, i.e., it would be a one-way planar speaker, such as a full-range electrostatic. The full-range drivers used in headphones should also be ideal in this regard. Of course, in either case, it would be impossible to perform any crossover modification to eliminate "Doppler distortion" anyway.
