Re: New review of Benchmark Dac 1 in Sensible sound

Haven't gotten my issue yet (I THINK I'm still a subscriber). Yes, their reviews ARE all over the map which is why I'm not sure I'm still a subscriber. I may have dropped it because they wrote about a piece of equipment I own and were quite inaccurate about some technical aspects. Just poor, careless reporting, you know, like when you own something Consumer Reports reviews and things just don't match up?

My experience with the DAC-1, however, seems to be the same as Sensible. I got one on trial right after John Marks reviewed it. I couldn't tell the diff between it, a Birdland, and an old JVC CDP w/ K2. Neither could two other audiophile friends. It went back (along with the Birdland). Got a dAck! and it 'seems' to make a difference for the better. I wasn't interested in the DAC-1 as a preamp OR a headphone amp although Sensible SHOULD have reviewed those aspects.
