One of the small wires had popped out of the plug, but that fact was obscured by the ferrite loop. Apparently that wiring group has something to do with with spin-up and drawer operations. And man was it a pain getting that thing back in there--those wires are even smaller and more pliant than the the power ribbon.

I'm currently breaking in a pair of Kimber caps ($13 a pair from PE) with "Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section." Excellent so far--definitely the best soundstage I've heard from digital in my system. The tonal balance is still tipped *slightly* in favor of the upper mids, but I'm betting a few hours' break-in will change that. Just recapped the crossovers in my Large Advents too, so everything's sounding great.
