Re: Hey Fal...

I have not swapped any tubes in mine, but di try two small experiments to see just what the effect would be.
* first one was a set of soft rubber pads under the feet just to see what the effect would be. The upper mids may have been just a touch more detailed, but on the other hand didn't like the effect it had on the upper bass. One thing it did was to make the soundstage a little deeper, and somewhat wider. But the total effect was nothing to write home about.
* The secound attempt was a set of home brew roller blocks. Now this was dramtic! I normally listen to my Soliloquys from about nine feet away. Love the detailed sound, but hate the lack of bass (5.0's). Still with my listening being mostly of acoustic by nature I can get by 80% of the time. But getting back to the roller blocks; they seemed to trow the sound stage out in front by what seems tobe about four to five feet! Width seems unchanged, and have not made up my mind as to ifthe stage was any deeper. The highs seem tobe just a hint brighter than the rubber pads, and the bass seems to be a little tighter. I can recommend this to all of you.
Now where will I go from here? Well it's a new "redisgned" set of roller blocks, and a set of cones seating in a flat plate ontop an "O-Ring." The plates will be solid copper, and the cones will be a 303 stainless alloy with a built in hight adjustment. And while this is all going on I have a new matched pair of GE 5751 black plate tubes
waiting for some action.
glt
