It worked for me! I'm using a Sony DVP-S300 which was an entry level DVD player 2 years ago along with an NAD 350 integrated AMP. With the DI/O they make my Magnepan MG12's sing. Here's what you'd need:

1) DVD player or CD player with a coaxial out.
2) 1- 75 ohm digital cable. I use Ensemble Digiflux, but I've heard the digital cable from Bolder cables (www.boldercables.com) are the way to go for the DI/O. If you're strapped for cash, you could just pick up a coaxial digital cable at Radio Shack (must be 75ohm). When you get the upgrade bug, get the Bolder Cable or something decent (it makes a HUGE difference).

3) 2- Radio Shack part 274-884 Monaural 1/4" Jack Adapters

4) A set of interconnects

Take the 75 ohm digital cable out from your CD player (or DVD player) coaxial to the digital input on the DI/O (bottom). The 1/4" adapters go onto your interconnects and you hook that into the DI/O analog output. The other end of the interconnects goes to the analog input on your receiver or amp. That's about it. For $300 or so you'd have a great sounding digital source.

There's a ton of tweaks and tips on this board for the DI/O. Also as Batman said... you can get Dan W to mod the unit for you.

Bottom line... an unbelievable unit for the price (or for much more). There's a bunch of people that can answer questions if you have any. The great thing about this unit is that you can make a great CD/DVD player sound incredible and an entry level model sound way beter than it should.
