I had a chance to do a side-by-side comparison of my (still not fully broken in) Arcam FMJ CD23 and my friend's 777 at his place, with his equipment, which is Conrad-Johnson pre/power with Martin Logan Prodigy. Though I was not as sure about my impression on the comparison, my friend was very disappointed with his machine, saying that it's sound was to "rough". I did hear the difference but it is not easy for me to explain it as it was on an unfamiliar system.
