RE: Why are there so few good ADCs? Do you mean kits?

There are a decent number of assembled ADCs.

Benchmark, Ayre, Mytek, quite a few commercial units from the best known companies, and for the budget purchasers the HRT LineStreamer+ for around $300.
The HRT is limited to 24/96 and you need to control the volume, as it doesn't have it's own built-in.

I have digitized about 200 vinyl LPs and a few live concerts broadcast over satellite radio. I have been very happy with the results. 24/96 flac files sound really good, depending on the source.

The HRT would probably be cheaper than the kit.
