RE: New to DACs here...for better sound, get better CD player, or get a DAC for current player?

Yeah, your best bet is probably to get a better sounding DAC. I have an Oppo BDP-105D in my system and although I have gotten used to its sound, I prefer the sound of the DAC in my TASCAM DA-3000 DSD recorder. I don't know if Ive ever heard a better sounding DAC than the BurrBrown PCM1795 DACs my TASCAM. I listened to a $3200 April Music Eximus DP1 for a couple of years and when I bought the $1000 TASCAM DA-3000 I thought it sounded as good or better. There is no question that finding the right DAC makes all the difference in the world. I just wish they weren't so darned expensive. ;-)
