Nah, you're not late to the party at all. There's always something new going on with the popular Pi and it's ecosystem of supporting doodads and loads of software. The last one I played with was an earlier Pi that was a bit under powered but these newer ones should be pretty good. Bryston seems to think so. They have one in their $1295 USD Bryston BDP-π
