I went to my local dealer of fine high fidelity products to purchase some new headphones. I did buy a pair of Audioquest Nighthawks. But my dealer said that the SimAudio Moon 430HA with dac option that I was listening to the headphones through was a demo piece that he thought would be a nice upgrade over my MicroMega mydac and I could take it home to try. WOW wow wow. I can't believe how good it makes my cds and files sound. Cds can image! Who knew? The texture of voices is vinyl-like. Mostly it sounds more real than I had imagined possible.
I had been planning to wait for a MQA dac. But I don't want to give this Moon back. I mean it's a great headphone amp, but most of the time I listen through my speakers. It's so natural and smooth. I consider myself a vinyl first guy with digital for non-critical listening and convenience, but I have been listening to cds and loving it.
Now I just have to figure out how to pay for it
