Yes this was also my sensation listening to the Marantz cd7500
I cannot say if the key of the sound is more in the transport section or dac. I guess both.
I wavered a little too long and missed the opportunity to buy 1st for the lack of remote control, i cannot stand this.
2nd because if there is an old mechanism the problems are always possible.
