Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Yes, you might win a prize for edits but I cannot find anything to disagree with on this post.

The most important thing you said is that REDBOOK is much better than we realize.

I have made a dedicated ripping OS suing XP and dBpoweramp - stripped to the bone - 32 mB in the c: folder and what it finds on the disks is pretty damned amazing. No EXPLORER, boots into dBpoweramp. Obviously does nothing else but rip CDs. I use SLITAZ Linux to copy the files to SD cards with a SATA writer. The SATA writer does not like IDE mode so I had to find a small LINUX for the copy phase. I use LIVE CD since there is no USB capability on my motherboard.

Now that I am using the SDTrans and not a computer I am hearing sound quality that exceeds my phonograph setup. Something I never thought I would hear myself say.

High rez is full of noise and I can only assume people have grown to enjoy the sound of digital noise. Nothing else could explain it, other than not working hard enough to realize the full potential of REDBOOK.

I can understand how few know this, I have only within the last month discovered how good it actually is.
