RE: Bryston 3B-SST2 DAC

I use a NAD M51 with my Bryston 4B-SST. That may be out of your preferred price range and I don't know what your "tolerance level is", but the Cambridge Audio DacMagic Plus is a reasonable performer that functions as a preamp. I have one of those as well. I have also used the Benchmark DAC1 HDR as a preamp prior. Those are currently on runout special on the Benchmark site and would fall within your budget.
