Dave is correct just set the TV's digital out to PCM and you'll be fine My LG is connected to my DAC and it works great, in fact my cable box will not send PCM to my DAC, the TV is the one doing the down mixing to stereo. The TV uses it's sample rate convertor to upsample to 24/96k. Be sure to go into your cable box's menu and set the audio Dynamic Range Control (DRC) to OFF for optimum sound quality .
