RE: Hi John,

I prefer the sound of my TASCAM DA-3000 to my OPPO BDP-105D. The DA-3000 is more accurate with deeper, tighter bass. The BDP-105D is more polite like it was voiced to sound like tube electronics with less defined bass.

When I first bought the OPPO BDP-105D I was accustomed to the Eximus DP1 and I didn't like the OPPO in comparison. I have many digital recordings of LPs that sounded just like vinyl through the Eximus DP1. I could tell immediately that the OPPO was not accurate when I played my own recordings because vinyl has a softer, smoother sound quality and the OPPO exaggerated the vinyl sound by making it even softer and smoother than the real thing. It probably improved the sound of a lot of purely digital recordings, but I didn't like what it did to my vinyl recordings. After buying the TASCAM, I regained my appreciation for accuracy in reproduction. The TASCAM also sounds as good if not better than the Eximus DP1, which was my favorite DAC prior to buying the TASCAM.

Best regards,
John Elison
