I've always used stand-alone digital recorders beginning with DAT recorders in 1991 to CD-R recorders in 1998 to the hard drive Alesis Masterlink in 2003 and now the flash card DA-3000 DSD recorder. I rarely use my computer for streaming anymore because I own an OPPO BDP-105D digital player along with the DA-3000, both of which play digital files directly from USB flash drives. I store all my music on multiple external USB hard drives while copying playlists onto high capacity USB flash drives for playback.
Best regards,
John Elison
