Finally on the track of a couple of items with the Alchemy looking to be the most promising as it is in the digital domain. I hope to be able to get one for around the $USD100 mark + postage (bit of a killer to Australia) but considerably better than its first $USD400 sale price. Analog alternatives on offer are less expensive but not as neat for the application here. And there are heaps of delay units for guitar players but again, might not suit what I want.

So thanks for replying everyone. Weird I was unable to track down items before. I'm guessing that is because not many people have been looking for a delay unit so the Google software was not experienced enough about digital delays to recognise what I was after.
