Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Is there a simple digital audio buffer to slow down the signal?

There are two HDMI feeds out of the Onkyo preamp/processor here and I've got the following setup:

MAIN HDMI out -> amps and speakers in a 7.1 system with 4 subs (for my wife)
HDMI output 2 -> HDMI processor to extract RCA stereo digital ----> (long digital lead)-> Benchmark DAC1 (beside where I sit) -> headphones (for hard of hearing me)

But there is an annoying delay in the sound coming from the speakers in the 7.1 system so it is slightly out of synch with the RCA digital audio feed from the processor direct to a Benchmark DAC and headphones.

So what I want is a basic "digital bucket" to control the speed of the feed to the Benchmark DAC1 so the resultant analog audio in the headphones coincides with that from the speakers.

Anyone know if there is some sort of digital delay system I could use for stereo in the line to the Benchmark? Note this system is used for TV as well as DVD & BD.

I've had no success Googling maybe because I'm not using the best terms in the search.

TIA

John
