RE: DVD player for audio

:-) ~10/12 years ago I bought a Toshiba DVD player Best reviewed for CD uses. Wasn't bad.. Modded the daylights out of it.. Double it's 50$ purchase price in Black Gates etc. Worked for a Decade or so . Even bought a 'spare' against future need.
Welll.. finally, the Original Unit started to sound a bit iffy.
Rather than Patch it, I fitted the Spare unmodded gizmo.
Not overly pleasant, too bright and a bit harsh.
The Mods on the previous unit were clearly effective.
Fitted the thing to My Mark Audio Full rangers in my 'B' setup. Surprisingly the resultant sounds were Better than expected. Verging on pretty damned Good.
The Brightness of the DVD player neatly cancelled out the Limited
extensions of the Mark Audio drivers.

Clearly the adequate matching of gear is Critical.
