RE: I vote Tascam CD-200

I have a Tascam CD200 that I got to use as a transport with a Luxman DA-06 dac.
This dac buffers and reclocks the data and I guess it does this very well, as I can't detect any difference in sound with various transports including the Tascam, an old Nohr player, an Astin Trew player, and the excellent Heed transport.

Naturally I tried the Tascam as a player - and found it very decent; what's more, the headphone output is also decent. OK, I get better results from the Luxman dac, the Heed DT/DA transport and dac, and my superb Accuphase DP-510; and from my modded Cayin headphone amp.
But that doesn't alter the fact that the Tascam makes *good* music with no trace of the digital nasties you might expect from a cheap player. With a decent pair of headphones you get pretty close to high end sound. I was so impressed that I bought one for a friend and he's most pleased with the sound.
