I had a Yamaha of that vintage ...

... It wasn't the CD 1000 because I don't recall that it had remote control. Might have be a CD-10 or CD-100. It sounded pretty bad -- really harsh highs.

About 1990 it died, (thank goodness). I replaced it with at Technicas SL-PS70, a much better sounding CDP though nowhere near as good as modern CDPs or DACs.
