Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Discreet R2R Ladder Dacs

Okay, so I'm late to the discreet R2R dac party.

I bet everybody who has read that Lynn Olson article in PF about the difference between R2R and Delta Sigma has thought about doing this, and here a couple of people have.

I found Totaldac, and apparently Audio Note UK is working on a 16 bit version. Does anybody know of any others?

I've read all the reviews of the Totaldac. If anybody has heard any of these dacs I would be glad to hear about it.

Anyone interested in discussing these dacs I would be glad to hear from.

I can say that Vishay Metal Foil resistors are very well thought of by the SET community, or by some at least. OTOH there may be benefits for incredibly tiny resistors. Interesting times ahead.

The hyperlink below is when Mercman posted his review units. The printed link has the Totaldac creator posting, then an intelligent conversation between Thorsten and Tony that is worth going back and reading. The thread is five years old. I was surprised to see knewton post recently.

Big speakers and little amps blew my mind!
