It's strange, but every time somebody posts they always say that the greater bit depth always has to do with a greater dynamic range, and the higher sample rate always has to do with higher frequencies being sampled. I understand that these are the way you measure them, and quantify them as an engineer, but it's seems to me there are another two ways to look at these things.

One, a greater bit depth gives a finer gradation of loudness levels. That is, more loudness steps. An exponential increase in fact.

Two. the higher sample rate is exactly that. A higher sample rate. With a higher sample rate you would figure that the original analog waveform would be more accurately captured, or resolved, or reproduced.

Just food for thought.
