Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

The problem is the obsolete CD format, not digital.

Many vinyl recordings are free of any distortion or unwanted noise, provided that one has a state of the art vinyl setup. I have never heard a comparison between the same master in vinyl and CD where the vinyl did not trounce the CD, despite having a state of the art CD player for the comparison.

On the other hand, I know from first hand experience that the CD format is incapable of reproducing the sound that is captured on a good cassette tape. This can be done with 176/24 digital completely transparently, but this is not possible at 44/16, despite using state of the art converters.

The problem is the obsolete CD format, not digital.
