compared to Linux the sound is not as dark and has more sense of air and decay.
I use a toslink cable into my DAC.
Difference is in both the software and hardware, the sonos system is very efficient and the hardware upgrades made a substantial difference, especially the low noise PS ... USB just can't compare, at least with my humble setup.
