Get a good one and roll tubes until you're happy. Decware makes a nice one called the ZSTAGE.I have owned the Rega Planet and I would not describe it's sound as "thick, rich, beefy". The Planet has more of a midrange-forward and sparkly sound reminiscent of vinyl played on one of Rega's lightweight turntables. The bass on the Planet seems punchy, more from dynamic upper bass than from deep, Stygian, lower bass.
